 Mother's Day in the US was started in 1908 by Anna Jarvis in memory of her mother, Ann Jarvis, who was a peace activist who cared for wounded soldiers on both sides of the Civil War. Anna Jarvis became an activist in opposition to the commercialization of Mother's day by companies selling candy, cards, and flowers. She wanted Mother's day to be about sentiment, not profit. Peace and no profit will be in the music mix this Sunday, in honor of Ann and Anna Jarvis. DJ Z hosts.
